Overnight Boarding
Due to high demand, boarding prices have increased as of October 1, 2024, and there is a new cancellation policy in place. Please read the details below in the Prices & Policies section!
About the space
The kennels are located on my property in Grand Ledge. I have a pole barn, part of which I have renovated to serve as my kennel space. There is full climate control, video monitoring, a TV, large individual kennels, and a large private yard in which to run and play.
There are only 3 spots available in my kennels; this is because it is just me taking care of the dogs, as opposed to a team of employees that can juggle more. However, this means that your dog will get plenty of individualized attention and a stay tailored to their specific needs! I like to think of my smaller operation as a Bed & Breakfast experience, as opposed to the standard hotel experience you get at larger kennels. Both experiences are great! But they are undeniably different, and preferred by different guests.
Your dog does not have to interact with other dogs if they do not want to. If they do like having dog friends, I have several dogs of my own that are willing to run and play with others. Introductions between dogs are done very slowly over the course of several days.
Included with each stay:
Daily playtime — Playtime is essential for canine mental health, which is why it’s included in each stay. Your dog will get playtime multiple times a day, along with multiple opportunities to run in the fenced yard.
Enrichment toys to occupy your dog’s mind while they’re alone — Exhausting your dog’s mental energy is just as important here as it is in your home. I will always leave your dog with several things to do while they’re alone (provided it is safe to do so).
Close attention to eating habits — I don’t just fill the bowls with kibble and hope they eat. Boarding can be stressful for dogs, especially if it’s their first time away from home. This stress can cause dogs to reject their regular food at first. If this happens, I will make sure to give them a canned bland diet to keep something in their stomach so they don’t get sick, along with probiotics to help their digestive system and prevent intestinal upset.
Close attention to behavior — Being a dog trainer comes in handy when a canine guest is extra stressed. I monitor the dogs via camera when I’m not with them, and adjust my plans based on their behavior and their ability to settle when alone. If your dog is extra stressed, I’ll give them a calming supplement (you can opt out of this if you’re not comfortable with it), extra enrichment toys, a licki mat, and extra playtime. I’m committed to ensuring the most comfortable stay possible for every dog I host.
Calming music and dog TV are always on in the kennel space to help promote a calm environment for all guests.
